The Carnegie Public Library of Steuben County is seeking Youth Services librarian. This is a full-time position that will require some evenings and weekends. Responsibilities will include providing reference assistance, readers’ advisory, and the development and presentation of children’s programming.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan, organize, present and supervise the presentation of educational and entertaining youth programs and services.

Create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere in the Youth department.

Attend professional meetings and workshops as required

Supervise patrons in the Youth department

Communicate with the Director and staff about upcoming programs and events

Maintain participant statistics for all programs and events
-
Work collaboratively with library staff to deliver excellent services our patrons

Perform other duties as assigned
SKILLS:

Ability to work as a member of a team and independently

Ability to maintain confidential information

Possess shelf reading and organizational skills

Ability to communicate effectively with patrons and other staff members

Must be proficient with computers

Willingness to help out wherever needed

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred. The Children/Teen Librarian must hold or be able to obtain an Indiana Librarian Certificate 6 (LC6). An LC6 requires a High School Diploma or GED/HSE plus 3 years of library experience or 9 credit hours of college level Library Science. Reimbursement for library credits is available.
