Best Books #1

Patrons and staff were asked for their favorite books from the last several years. Here are their responses in no particular order. Maybe this will help you find your next great read!

(1) Ken Follett's three book series about the Middle Ages is an historical epic at it's best. The first one is "Pillars of the Earth". This series is about building a mighty Gothic cathedral in the 12th century. It was also made into an eight part mini series. The description doesn't exactly send me but so many patrons have absolutely loved this series that it's on my must read list.

(2) The Flower Shop mystery series by Kate Collins are cozy mysteries that are fun and witty. The first in the 20 book (so far) series is "Mum's The Word" followed by "Slay it with Flowers", "Dearly Depotted", "Snipped in the Bud". You get the idea. If nothing else, the titles are really great!

(3) "Roses" by Leila Meacham is a multi-generational Southern saga spanning the 20th century.

The setting is an East Texas town with a backdrop of the powerful timber and cotton industries.

(4) "Educated" is a memoir by Tara Westover. This is a new book and has made quite an impression on readers. She was a young girl kept out of school who eventually leaves her survivalist family to go on to earn a PhD from Cambridge University. Reading this powerful book can make your own problems seem much more manageable.
